The HTC Vive Cosmos and the Advantage Enterprise pack for professionals

The HTC Vive Cosmos and the Advantage Enterprise pack for professionals

A worthy successor to HTC Vive and Vive Pro, the HTC Vive Cosmos was released on October 3, 2019. The new PC headset from HTC Vive already has its followers and offers a new Virtual Reality experience. Do you want to use this material for professional purposes? Here's everything you need to know about the Advantage Enterprise package, which includes HTC Vive Cosmos, Commercial Use License, and premium after-sales service.

The HTC Vive Cosmos helmet: what you need to know

The new generation of VR PC headsets by Vive

One of the greatest qualities of HTC Vive Cosmos is in its graphics. Indeed, the HTC Vive Cosmos has the highest resolution in the Vive range of HTC with 2880 x 1700 pixels. All this combined with new brighter lenses. With its 6 video sensors, it leaves more possibilities in the choice of movements and ensures precise tracking over 310 °. There is an high quality sound from its headphones too. The immersion is total, for a unique Virtual Reality experience. The HTC Vive Cosmos also stands out for its public accessibility, due in part to a simplified configuration and its new movement tracking system.

Simplified movement tracking

In order to locate itself in space and detect the position of the joysticks, the Cosmos can rely on a motion capture system called "inside out". This system has the particularity of using 6 integrated cameras for motion detection, which leaves more autonomy, both for the helmet and for the user. Unlike HTC Vive and vive pro, which require base stations.

A VR helmet with an aesthetic and more ergonomic design

The design proposed by HTC for this helmet is new and includes new features. It starts with the redesigned controllers, which become bright when in use for greater accuracy. They are both elegant and comfortable. The other great feature of the helmet is in its headband. This surrounds the user's skull from the forehead to the back of the skull. Its utility ? minimize the feeling of pressure due to the weight of the helmet and ensure better weight distribution. But that's not all, this system allows you to rotate the helmet upward to free up the field of vision, much like a visor. It is a practical function, which allows you to move from reality to Virtual Reality in one movement. The HTC Vive Cosmos is therefore a helmet with a unique design, which offers a new user experience and which combines comfort and aesthetics.

The Advantage Enterprise pack for the HTC Vive Cosmos

The Advantage Enterprise pack is offered to professionals in order to save them time, get efficiency and a legal framework. This includes a commercial license to use and benefits on after-sales service. Also benefit from a two-year manufacturer's warranty in place of one and Device Management System support.

A commercial user license

The user license allows a third party to exploit a right by paying a fee. In other words, you can make a return on your investment, and without your rights to the property being assigned.

Premium after-sales service

The other main advantage to be gained from this pack is an improved after-sales service, guaranteeing you a more responsive customer service with an email response within 24 hours. Also, your requests to the after-sales service are prioritized, so that you can benefit from, among other things, faster repair.

The team’s opinion

The HTC Vive Cosmos is an ambitious helmet, which takes the risk of offering several new features. Certainly, many of its features (graphics, resolution, sound, ergonomics) make it a high-end headset, but others may leave some skeptical. The VR360 team has taken the test for you.

Strong points

Graphics: With 2880 x 1700 pixels, the visual rendering offered by the helmet is amazing and impacts the quality of the immersion.

The headband: This element adds a real plus to the ergonomics of the Cosmos, and its helmet pivot system proves to be very practical when it comes to temporarily interrupting a session without having to remove the helmet .

Controllers: Considered a little heavy by some, the Cosmos controllers are nonetheless pleasant to take in hand and their light ring brings a real plus to the design.

What could have been better

Tracking system: Compared to the base stations of the Cosmos predecessors, there is a notable loss of precision with this system. Although it remains fast and functional, this marks a decline in terms of tracking for HTC Vive.

The VR360 team recommends this product

The HTC Vive Cosmos is a headset that we recommend. It has enough assets to be considered a powerful Virtual Reality helmet. However, a few shortcomings including its tracking system make it not the first choice for an expert.
